MERRY CHRISTMAS, JOUEAUX NOËL, BUON NATALE, 圣诞快乐,عيد ميلاد مجيد

Well, it is that time of the year again. Kids are all around Ramallah dressed in the red suits of Santa and ringing the bells of Christmas. It was nice to see on Aljazeera International that they put a spotlight on Bethlehem, as the birth place of Jesus. Do people gathered at the midnight mass around the world know (or even care) what has come of Bethlehem? Do people know that Mary's journey to Bethlehem would have been harder today than it was 2000 years ago?
Elena showed me one of the hymns that are sung at Christmas, "Adeste Fideles" (Oh Come, All Ye Faithful) , I thought that the name of Bethlehem, the city to which the believers are called to witness the birth of the New King, appears there just as historical reference, a name that is lost in history which is irrelevant even amongst those who still believe in Christ.

I would agree to work my ass off for Santa tonight in return for a sleigh for every Palestinian... You know these sleighs from lapland can come very handy to use around the Apartheid Wall... I just wonder if they fly high enough.
